Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #26

Do you ever wonder what my goals are for this site? What am I striving to accomplish from week to week? This post is a series of weekly summaries that tell my readers what I have done in the previous week, and what I plan on doing in the future.

This summer continues to fly by, and I’m desperately trying to work ahead because we have a vacation coming up! We leave on Thursday and really won’t be back until July 18. I’ll take my laptop along, but there’s no guarantee that I’ll have a place to connect to WiFi, or even have time to work. I’m setting up a bunch of great posts for the time I’m gone though, so don’t worry – it’ll continue to churn out inspiring articles, even while I’m gone.

Also, while on the trip, I might be able to focus more of my attention to my eBook! This is very exciting to me since I haven’t been able to devote much time to it so far.

June Goals

1) Raise my subscriber numbers to 200 – I’m not sure that I’m going to make this goal. My numbers have been pretty stagnant in the past week. It looke like I’m still hovering around the 174 mark. While this number won’t get to 200 by June 30, if it hits 180, I’ll be happy.

2) Complete the 1st draft of my new eBook –I think this is one of the toughest goals I have ever set for myself. This eBook is going to take a ton of work and dedication, and time is not often a luxury of mine. Tomorrow, I’ll need to focus on setting up future articles so my site will continue to product great content while I’m gone on vacation. There won’t be much time for eBook work until July… unfortunately.

3) Continually post 3-4 new articles every week – I’m still doing this, and I will continue to do this forever (even while I’m on vacation)!

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Thank for the mention. I am in good company.

  2. Great goals! Keep at it. Perseverance goes a long way to achieving your goals!

    • Thanks Jon! I will definitely continue to work at making this site one of the best on the net!

  3. Hi. Have you been regularly participating in carnivals? I noticed that helps bring new subscribers too, especially if you get into more prestigious ones. Just a suggestion you can ignore if you are already doing this. 🙂

    • I actually haven’t participated in many carnivals. I will make sure to do this in the future for sure!

  4. Good progress you made so far this year, all the best for your e-book.
One question, why do you still show yakezie challenger badge, shouldn’t you now show Yakezie member badge?

    • Thanks for the good wishes! I’m definitely going to continue to learn and grow so that my site will show continuous improvement.

  5. Keep it up! Looking forward to reading your new eBook! Keep us updated on the progress – I love reading about your growth!

    • Thanks Tim! The eBook is on paper (chapter by chapter), but needs quite a lot of work. I’ll be working on it very soon during my travels!

  6. Isn’t there a theory that you are far more apt to achieve your goals if you write them down…it seems like you are working in the right direction.

    • Yep! It just becomes so much more concrete! If it weren’t for my goals, I wouldn’t be staring that unfinished eBook in the face everyday and cringing! I know that I have a goal to get it done by July 31st and that date is quickly approaching! I really have to work to get that goal completed on time. Without the goal, I probably wouldn’t have even started yet! 😉
