Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #16

Do you have goals and dreams for your future? Do you have them written down? Every week, I remind myself of my goals for the month to make sure that I’m on track for hitting them. Sometimes I’m way behind the eight ball, and other times I really feel like I have a good handle on them. Either way though, my site improves and my readers have a better experience from the improvements.

Goals For April, 2012

The end of April is tomorrow?! Uh-oh…

  1. 1,154 Subscribers – According to Feedburner, I have 874 people subscribing to my site. This means that I’m nearly 300 subscribers shy of my goal with only one day left in April. Hmmmm. It doesn’t look like this one’s going to pan out. However, I still think that I have a chance at hitting the 1,000 mark. We’ll have to see what happens!
  2. House Project: Finish the Upstairs of Our House, Minus the Trim – I did do quite a bit of work on that pesky trim this week. The hallway cupboards and trim are basically done, which leaves a few more trim pieces and the doors. I’m going to bust my hump today, but this is going to take a TON of work. Stay tuned. 😉
  3. Finish Editing the eBook and Put it into a PDF Format – I think I’ve decided that my wife is just too busy to take on my eBook project. I’m just going to have to do it myself. I’m definitely not a master of graphic design, but we’ll just have to see what I can scrounge up. Hopefully I can put something together that at least looks decent.
  4. Make Yet Another $1,200 Extra Payment – Our Jeep still hasn’t sold, but I’m pretty sure that we have enough in our account to make at least one extra payment. I’d still like to make up for the payment that we missed in March though. This will just have to wait until we get the cash for the Jeep.

Weekly Round-Up

Once again, my week has been unbelievably busy, so I haven’t had a chance to read my usual 20+ blogs, but here are some that I’m sure you’ll enjoy!

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Goals.
    1. Expand my portfolio. Check
    2. Get more consistent work. In the process.
    3. Catch up on mortgage. In the process.
    4. Finish Insanity. Half way done.

    • So you’re still keeping up with the Insanity workouts? That’s pretty good! Keep it up!

  2. Hopefully your jeep sells soon! How have you been trying to sell it? I listed my old car on craigslist and sold it within a week, but I also lived in the Washington DC Metro area at the time and had it in a great price point for cash.

    • I put it on Craigslist and I have it sitting on a busy street. It has had some test drives, but yeah, it sure would be nice to sell it soon!

    • Thanks Robert. Yep. We’ll se what kind of job I can do with it (since I’m not a graphic design guru).

  3. Good job on subscribers even if you’re shy from your target. The jeep will sell sooner or later.

    • Thanks BTI. The subscriber numbers look like they’re going to fall short, but this promo helped me gain quite a few subscribers for my other site as well, so I think it was worth. Plus, some lucky person out there gets to win a free iPad!! That would be pretty cool.

  4. I am impressed that you are to the format stage for the ebook. I am just on the edge of starting one and know that it will take a lot of work.

    • It is a ton of work – way more than I expected. I just need to get it into the right format so that I can show the public!!!
