I started this blog over six years ago, and it’s been a great money maker from the very beginning – typically between $10,000 and $20,000 a year. I’m definitely not going to quit my job any time soon, but the extra income sure comes in handy!

For all of you that are interested in starting a blog of your own, check out this awesome resource I put together a few weeks ago to help newbies get started: “How to Start a WordPress Blog For Just $24“.

My November 2016 Blog Income

I’ve really been focusing on my writing these past few months and boy did that help my site’s traffic in November! My article, “How Much Should You Spend on That?” was HUGE and scored me an additional 48,000 viewers last month! It got picked up by RockstarFinance, LifeHacker, Simplemost, and ABC Action News!!

Thanks to my quality content, I’ve seen my income tick up as well. Check it out!

Pay Per Click Ads

On my main page, I host Google and Media.net ads. I’m not in love with advertising random stuff that’s pretty much out of my control, so I keep them on the lower left hand side of my pages. Surprisingly enough, they still yield a decent amount each month.

Google Adsense = $104.54

My typical earnings through Google are roughly $40 a month. Thanks to the uptick in traffic, this jumped to $104.54 in November!

Media.net Ads = $38.70

These ads typically sucked the big one in the past, and like I said in last month’s income post, I was really just hanging onto it so I could get my earnings up to $100, grab the check and run far far away. BUT with the uptick in traffic, I saw my Media.net earnings skyrocket. From $2.82 in October to $38.70 last month. Not too shabby! If I see this continue, I might just be willing to keep them around a while. 😉

Affiliate Marketing

Michelle, from Making Sense of Cents, reignited the flame in me to earn more money blogging. Her recent blog income report put her into the six-figure mark…in a single month! Most of her income was through affiliate marketing. THAT’s where the money’s at.

My September 2016 Blog Income Report: $102,911

When you truly believe in something and can’t wait to tell people about it, that’s when you become an effective seller. And that’s when your affiliate sales go through the roof like Michelle’s. I’m nowhere near there yet, but I’m getting better!

iPage Affiliate Income = $0.00

In October, I had 142 clicks on my iPage affiliate link and had one sale that netted me $105. That payout was exciting. First of all, I earned $105…but it was also exciting to know that someone else out there took the first step to starting their dream! They’re probably tweaking some text and photography on their page right now, reaching out to their die-hard fans that can’t get enough of their stuff!

This past month, I wasn’t quite as fortunate. I had no sign-ups and therefore no earnings. AND, I only had 126 clicks on my affiliate link… Not exactly what I’d hoped for, but hopefully I have better news to report in December!

Motif Investing Affiliate Income = $46

Thankfully, I had a little better luck with Motif Investing. This company is absolutely awesome. You can invest in absolutely everything through their page AND they’re super cheap. Heck, they even offer to pay you $150 if you trade just five times! It’s by far the easiest company to promote and they actually pay me money to do it. Last month, a few intelligent individuals clicked through the link and started investing for themselves, which earned me $46.

Valore Books Affiliate Income = $0

I’ve done a pretty terrible job promoting Valore Books, but they are one of the cheapest places to buy your textbooks. So if you know of some college students in need of cheap textbooks (who isn’t??), then lead them to ValoreBooks.com. They’ll get a great deal, they’ll thank you for the recommendation, and I might even earn a few pennies in the process. 🙂

Writing

I haven’t pursued this option too much. Sure, it’s fun to make a few bucks writing for someone else, but I’d much rather take the time to write quality articles for my own site! So how about you sign up for a few things through my affiliate links so I can earn some more money, huh?? Kidding, kidding….sort of.

Direct Ads

Companies occasionally reach out and ask me to review a product or mention their company specifically through my blog. I am very selective with these requests and only recommend products that I truly believe in. In the month of October, I earned $400 via direct ads. Not too shabby.

Total Website Earnings

In total, this blog earned $589.24 in November of 2016. It’s not $100k. Heck, it’s not even $1k, but it’s better than last month! And, my hope is that next month is better than this month. Stay tuned!
