Why does it feel like it’s taking so long to pay off our debts? My wife and I have been paying down our debts since January and we have done a good job, but it just feels like it’s not happening fast enough! Have you ever felt this way?
I can look back and realize that we have paid off a substantial amount, but we still have some hills to climb before we can have that get-out-of-debt celebration. My wife and I had to find a way to stay motivated.
So, what better way to stay motivated than to start talking about what we were going to do when we were debt free! For us, we are leaning toward a cruise. Neither of us have ever taken one, but we both love the water and the sun! Within the next couple of weeks, I plan to gather brochures of destinations and events from each cruise line so that Dar and I can look at them and get excited about that future day! It will certainly get us focused and freshly energized to continue paying down the debt.
So what is it for you? Have you always wanted to travel to Europe? Or perhaps go snowboarding in Colorado? Maybe it’s scuba diving off from Key West or a trip to Disney World. I obviously have no idea what it is that you have always wanted to do, but take some action on it. Figure it out, build a collage, and post it on a wall that you’ll see every day. I know that getting out of debt is going to be a sweet feeling, and our cruise is just going to be the icing on the cake. I can’t wait!!
My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
