I’ve really been trying to wait until New Years to share my aspirations for this website, but I just can’t wait any longer! Plus, why wait for a new year to start making goals for the future? We should be setting goals and revisiting them multiple times throughout each year, not just at the end!
This site was created at the end of August, 2010 and has already seen its share of struggles and failures, but since I have joined the Yakezie network, I have learned a ton! My Alexa rank is getting better every day, and I should be able to monetize this site very soon.
A quick explanation of the Alexa Rank – Google.com is ranked #1, Facebook is #2, etc. The more visitors you have within the last 3 months, the lower your Alexa Rank. When I first started building my site, my Alexa Rank was somewhere in the 12 millions…, but now I have brought it down considerably.
Goals for February 31, 2011
- Alexa Rank: Under 200,000
- Subscribers: 50
- Twitter Followers: 200
- Current Alexa Rank: 605,906
- Subscribers: 14
- Twitter Followers: 75
So, in order to reach my goals, I need to drop my Alexa Rank by 405,906 positions, gain 36 subscribers, and gain 125 Twitter followers.
By viewing Crystal’s success in Budgeting In The Fun Stuff, I am going to emulate her practices and start posting my progress every week. She really has a great website with some fun content, but she also practices what she preaches by posting her progress.
Hopefully, by posting my stats every week, you will understand that this website is very important to me. I am always looking for ways to improve content and help the reader. If you have any suggestions, please contact me via the “Advertise/Contact” tab on the top of this page.
My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
