Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #27

Do you ever wonder what my goals are for this site? What am I striving to accomplish from week to week? This post is a series of weekly summaries that tell my readers what I have done in the previous week, and what I plan on doing in the future.

Well, it happened. I officially took a vacation from my day job (for a couple of weeks). I’m currently in Tennessee and loving it! Luckily, I prepared pretty well and have quite a few guest posts set up this week so that I can lay back and enjoy the scenery. Don’t worry, I’ll still be responding to comments and emails, but I’ll probably only take out the computer once a day.

I’m nervous to write about my goals for June, because I just felt like I was too busy to focus! No sense avoiding it though….let’s get to it.

June Goals

1) Raise my subscriber numbers to 200 (FAILED– I sort of altered this goal mid-way through June when I realized my numbers were leveling off (since I just came off a big promotion). I decided that if I’d hit 180 subscribers, I’d be happy. Well, it looks like I’m happy because right now, I have 182 subscribers! I didn’t go up a huge amount since the end of May, but at least it was up! 🙂

2) Complete the 1st draft of my new eBook (FAILED)  –This just didn’t happen this month. I have a pretty large bag of excuses, but no one wants to hear those, they just want to read my eBook!! I understand. I still want to get it completely finished by the end of July (which was the original goal) and I will do everything possible to get there, and still come out with a quality product.

3) Continually post 3-4 new articles every week (SUCCESS!)– Check. I love writing for my readers, so this really isn’t much of a problem. Hope you enjoyed last week’s posts! 🙂

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. I totally understand about the eBook. I’m half-way through writing mine, and I keep meaning to finish, but it just proves very time consuming.

    • It is definitely time-consuming, and I want to provide mine with all of the proper resources to make it a valuable read! I’m still shooting for the end of July though! Time for some all-nighters! 🙂

  3. Enjoy your vacation and keep going on your goals!

    • Sounds great! I should be inspired to get the eBook done soon. We’ll be spending a lot of time on the road soon, and I’ll be specifying many of my ideas.

  8. 182 is a pretty good number! You’re close to 200, so congrats. And yes, I’d love to read your e-book!!

    • 182 is more than I’ve ever had before, so yes, it still feels awesome! Can’t wait to get to that 200 mark though! Also, I’ll keep working on that eBook for you! 🙂

  9. Hope, your new Ebook will launch soon. 🙂

    • Thanks Dana! I was actually able to get quite a bit of work done on it on our last trip. I will continue to work on it today – it’s really going to be a great asset to anyone that doesn’t want any debt when they begin their career!
