The past couple of weeks have just been flying by! We officially purchased our house on August 2 and we’ve worked on it in some form or fashion every night since! Surprisingly, I’m not yet burnt out, but I’m getting close.
As for my website, I have to say it’s still a blast! When one of my articles received 60 comments, I was blown away! I love the interaction with my readers. Keep it coming!
I know that many of you are curious about our house and the progress we’re making with it. When we bought this property, we could have moved in right away, but there were certain areas that just needed sprucing up and patching.
I’ll just give you the short version of our progress because my wife has agreed to write an entire “home renovation” post in the near future! I’m sure the article will come fully equipped with photos of every room :).
I mentioned that we hired a professional to refinish and stain our floors. Here’s a little preview of the progress.
And, most of you know that we tore down the ceiling and the walls in our dining room (due to millions of nail holes….). Take a look at our progress on this project (thanks to my father-in-law!).
Hopefully you’ve enjoyed the pictures as much as I’ve enjoyed the progress! 🙂
I have accomplished many of my old goals, so I figure it’s time for some new ones! Here’s what I’m going to try to accomplish by the end of August.
1) Finish my eBook – Between my full time job, keeping up with this site, staff writing, and renovating a house every day, I’m finding that it may be impossible to get this book done soon. I have finished quite a lot of it, and perhaps I’ll write up an article about it with a discounted “Pre-order” for the book when it releases later this year.
For now though, I think it goes on the backburner once again…. If only I didn’t need to get any sleep. Why can’t I be one of those people that only needs 3-4 hours of sleep a night? Stinkin normal body….
2) Continue to Write 4 Quality Posts Per Week – Yep, you can count on me sticking to this schedule! Always have, always will. 🙂
Every week, I like to feature a few articles that I’ve notice around the web. Here are some that I thought were interesting!

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
