Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #36

Would you like to know how I’m doing on my goals for this month? Each month, I sit down and evaluate the progress I have made in the previous months. I check out my strengths and weaknesses and then develop some goals that will improve the soft areas of my site!

Sometimes I hit the goals, and sometimes I don’t, but either way I still end up improving my site which benefits both myself and my readers!

Over the past few months I have had goals such as: improving my subscriber numbers, keeping up with my postings (at least 3-4 per week), writing an eBook, improving my Twitter numbers, writing guest posts on other sites, and the list goes on and on.

Goals For September, 2011

Here are the goals I made for myself this month:

  • Continue posting 3-4 posts per week– I passed with flying colors this week! I posted 4 times and have provided some great articles! I hope you enjoyed them.
  • Sit down and work on my eBook at least once a week– While I have not sat down and physically written the missing chapters of my book, I have brainstormed quite a lot while I’m driving or working on my house. I now have some great ideas for the book as a whole, as well as some extras that I can throw in with the sale. 🙂
  • Grow my subscriber numbers to 350– My subscriber numbers continue to grow without slowing down. Today, Feedburner says that I have 644 subscribers! If you have been following my site for more than a couple of weeks, you should know that my overall goal is to attain 1,154 subscribers by April, 2012. Based on this month alone, this goal should have a check in the box by December. 🙂

Maintaining this site has been a blast. I enjoy the challenge of posting every other day, and I love providing information that helps my readers! I can’t wait to see where my online ventures take me in the future!

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Watching your blog grow has been a blast. Congrats on the success.

    • I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it!

  2. Congratulations on the growth! You put together some good reads.

    • Thanks for the compliments krantcents. You have some pretty good posts yourself!

    • No problem Amanda. I always love reading your stuff. Thanks for visiting and the best wishes!

  3. Your growth has been inspiring! Any tips on growing subscribers? Continued success!

    • Hi Buck. I’m glad that you think my site is inspiring! Based on my visitor numbers, I knew that there were plenty of people reading, but they just weren’t making that leap to become a subscriber. My free eBook and my promotion helped boost the numbers, but the readers were around because of my quality content and my transparency.

  4. Subscibers are the key to ongoing revenue streams. You should always move the goal posts when you have more subscribers.

    • I agree! Subscriber numbers are incredibly important! I’m very fortunate to have my numbers increase so dramatically. 🙂

  5. Congrats… those are noteworthy goals and achievements. Best to you going forward.

  6. Holy crap Derek, your feedburner number is blowing up! Thanks for including me on your round-up!
