Review of the Chaikin Power Gauge Stock Rating Widget

[wp_campaign_1]

Have you ever considered purchasing a stock, but you really had no idea whether it was a good decision or not? I know I’ve been in this situation, and it normally comes around tax time. Inevitably, I end up getting some money back from Uncle Sam (not a ton of money, since I don’t like giving the government an interest-free loan) and I don’t really need it for my everyday expenses. So, why not invest it for my future? The only problem is, what do I invest in?

Since I have a background in finance, I do know how to read the company’s balance sheet, cashflow statement, and income reports, but it’s always nice to research a few other opinions on the company. In my search, I have found quite a helpful widget. Not only does it let me know whether the stock is bearish or bullish, but it will tell my why!

The tool is called the Chaikin Power Gauge Stock Rating Widget. To try it, enter any stock symbol in the entry box and hit enter.

In order to test this tool, I entered a local company that’s often talked about in my area – Gentex. Throughout the past 10 years, Gentex has done amazingly well, but with the downturn of the auto industry, I suspect that their financial reports aren’t as good as they used to be. Sure enough, I entered the ticker symbol, GNTX into this widget and the gauge pointed to VERY BEARISH. Based on the immediate feedback of the widget, the reason for the bad rating was due to it’s poor financials and low earning performance.

Advice in Detail

This widget is great for immediate feedback, but you can also request the 4-page report if you want to look into further details. This report will be sent to your email and will break down each of the 4 categories, giving the reason for each of the scores.

App Available!

In addition to this fine feature, the Chaikin Widget is also available as an App (and it’s free)! I quickly downloaded it on my phone and tested it out. Not only does it have the features of the widget, but it also allows you to perform stock trades immediately from the app homepage! It’s a pretty cool feature if you find that unbelievable stock that you just have to buy today.

Overall Reaction to the Widget

As a whole, I really loved this widget and can see myself checking various stocks with my new app throughout the day. It’s quick, easy, and gives you a simple visual of the expected future outcome of the stock! Overall, I’m really enjoying this new widget! 🙂

Have you ever heard of this widget? What do you use for your stock analysis before you buy?

After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. 1. Very interesting. I have seen this before, and have checked a few stocks that I follow. It has been fairly accurate thus far. Thanks for the review!

    • The ones that I tested were pretty accurate as well! I’m very excited to use this tool in the future. I’m glad I could share!

  2. I’ll have to check this widget out. I usually just check the stock out on yahoo finance. And I honestly don’t dig too far into it. I also don’t invest a lot as of yet, and only use extra money. So if the stock were to tank, I wouldn’t feel too bad about it.

    • I was the same way, I always checked out Yahoo Finance when considering a stock, but it took quite a lot of time and digging. This widget (and App) will save me a ton of time! 🙂

  3. Sweet app! It makes checking out stocks fun! A nice little toy for me to play with this coming weekend! Thanks for mentioning it.. there’s an app for everything

  4. I never seen this before but this is interesting.. Thanks for sharing..

    • No problem. It’s a very helpful tool isn’t it? 🙂

  5. Ya never seen this either….pretty interesting. I guess I still like to do the manual digging to check the financial metrics. Just because a widget says its a “hot” stock doesn’t mean much until you dig a bit deeper.

    • Yep. It’s a great tool for starters. It’s a real time saver!
