Want to Know What I’m Thankful For?

On this day of Thanksgiving, it’s obviously a great time to take a step back and remember all the blessings in your life. Here’s my laundry list of things that I am thankful for (in no particular order)

  1. My beautiful, articulate wife (even though I said this list has no order, I still feel that this one needs to go at the top! Love you hunny!)
  2. A loving family (both mine, and my wife’s)
  3. Our wonderful home
  4. Fantastic jobs (remember, some people are still struggling to find work out there)
  5. An ability to create “side-income” (with my online ventures and my wife’s photography)
  6. Health – I don’t need to take any pills, and I have a fully-functional body. It’s a wonderful blessing.
  7. Readers of my blog – what kind of person would I be if I left you off my list!? I love my readers and am always thankful for the comments.

What are some things that you are thankful for?

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. I’m lovin’ your webSite, Derek!

  2. Oh, I forgot to put what I’m thankful for. My dog, Fe-Fe!!

    • Fe-Fe is a pretty great dog! I’m glad you’re so thankful for him! Maybe we’ll have a dog someday to be thankful for too. 🙂

      • Thank you, Derek. But, Fe – Fe is a her. 🙂

        • Haha….oops. I knew that. For some reason I think of cats as girls and dogs as boys….. I’m not sure if I’ll ever shake that… 😉

    • Those relationships really do make our lives great don’t they? Thanks for commenting!

  3. Hey Derek, I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m thankful I live in a country that designates an entire day to ponder what we are thankful for. Without gratitude life could be a dismal place. Taking time to grateful every day does wonders for life don’t you think?

I have to add that although I’m thankful for all four of my kids every single day, I’m also glad I don’t have 6 like cashflowmantra:)

    • Lol! I’m glad that I don’t have 6 children either (actually, I don’t have any)! But, who knows, maybe it’s an amazing blessing and he loves every moment of it. 🙂

    • We are lucky aren’t we? I don’t think I could ask for much more! 🙂

  4. Well, it’s not thanksgiving here but I’m pretty thankful for my awesome family, my flexible job and that I found all these awesome blogs when I did so I started getting my financial house in order. I’m very fortunate with all these great people in my life.

    Happy thanksgiving!

    • Relationships are huge, no matter what the central focus is. I can’t imagine being a person that has no interaction whatsoever in a typical day. That would get so lonely!

    • A new layout again?! 🙂

Wow! That’s definitely different! I like the new layout (and fancy blog cycle), but I do miss the background that you used to have! Is that still coming?

  5. Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!! I am grateful for a good health and a job which I enjoy.

    • Health and a job are great things to be thankful for! Thanks for sharing!

    • I’m glad to hear that you value people as well! Without friends and family, this world would sure be a lonely place!

  6. I am thankful for my husband Paul, our kittens, our family and friends, my work, our home (we just had our foundation fixed, and for half the quote we received previously this year because the rain we’ve gotten over the last two months has raised the house a bit–hurray!), and my writing.
