Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #11

Do you have goals and dreams for your future? Do you have them written down? Every week, I remind myself of my goals for the month to make sure that I’m on track for hitting them. Sometimes I’m way behind the eight ball, and other times I really feel like I have a good handle on them. Either way though, my site improves and my readers have a better experience from the improvements.

Goals For March, 2012

March has definitely slowed down a little compared to February, but I’m working hard and expect to hit most of my goals. Here is a list of what I expected to accomplish by the end of this month and how well I’m doing so far.

  1. 900 Subscribers – Last month, I missed my goal of 800 subscribers, but I decided to raise the bar anyway! This month, I want to see my subscriber counter reach 900! So far, I’m at 775, which is actually a 14 person increase since last week, but I still have a long way to go. It might be time to try another giveaway. What do you think?
  2. Earn $1,500 with this site – This month is still quite slow compare to February, and earning $1,500 with this site alone is going to be tough. I still have 2 weeks though, so I’m not counting myself out on this one!
  3. Finish the SEO Structure of – I restructured the site a little over a week ago, and I haven’t yet seen too much of an impact. At this point, I just need to keep writing and earn those backlinks!
  4. Make Another $1,200 Payment on the Mortgage – Between my wife and I, we actually get an “extra” paycheck this month (we get paid by-weekly, and every couple of months, one of us gets paid 3 times in the month instead of just 2), so this extra payment really shouldn’t be an issue. Can’t wait to see those mortgage numbers drop again! :)

Overall, I’m feeling pretty good about these goals. That 900 subscriber goal is a little daunting though. Without doing anything drastic, I bet I could make it to 800 by March 31, but to get to 900, I’m going to have to do something pretty special. We’ll have to see what I come up with in the next couple of days.

Weekly Round-Up

This week has been crazy busy. I’m working at my full-time job, I’m keep up 3 different blogs, I’m renovating our house, and I just decided to go back to school to get my MBA, which means that I have to take the GMAT….. I have 2 weeks to study for this test that typically takes 2-3 months to prepare for. I need to get my butt in gear! So, needless to say, I haven’t had a whole lot of time this week to read other posts, but here’s a couple, just to wet your palette! 🙂

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
