Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #15

Do you have goals and dreams for your future? Do you have them written down? Every week, I remind myself of my goals for the month to make sure that I’m on track for hitting them. Sometimes I’m way behind the eight ball, and other times I really feel like I have a good handle on them. Either way though, my site improves and my readers have a better experience from the improvements.

Goals For April, 2012

We’re nearing the end of April now, so hopefully I’m getting close to achieving my goals for this month!

  1. 1,154 Subscribers – I’ve increased my subscribers by 50 since last week, which is quite good, but I’m still a long ways away from 1,154. I know that I’ll probably get a ton of subscribers on the last day of the promotion, but will it be enough? We’ll have to just wait and see!
  2. House Project: Finish the Upstairs of Our House, Minus the Trim – With about 8 days left in this month, I’m not so sure this goal is going to happen. We still have to sand and paint all of our hallway trim and drawers, and then we have to sand and paint (and hang) all of the doorways! I honestly hope we hit this goal because that will mean that we’re almost done with all of our work inside! Then it’s time to work outside! 🙂
  3. Finish Editing the eBook and Put it into a PDF Format – I’m no closer to finishing the book this week than I was last week. I need to get better at bribing my wife to help me. She’s the guru when it comes to this! Hopefully I’ll have some better news to report next week.
  4. Make Yet Another $1,200 Extra Payment – So the Jeep is still not sold, but we might make that extra payment anyway. It’s really nice not living paycheck to paycheck because our bank account is starting to look incredibly healthy again. Once we bring in another $6,500 from the Jeep sale, we’re going to have a nice emergency fund in place! Then it’s time to build some wealth! 🙂

Well, I didn’t have a ton of progress compared to last month, but that just gives me more motivation to get my butt in gear right now! In fact, soon after I finish this article, I’m going to get out my sandpaper and paint and get to work! 🙂

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Ok. Baby steps. That’s the way to get the goals accomplished.

    • Yep yep! Every goal takes just one step at a time!

  2. I have been thinking about starting an ebook myself. It seems like quite a bit of work, but at least you have all the writing done. I have yet to do anything other than think and read up on the subject.

    • It is quite a lot of work – way more than I thought it would be! Hopefully I can get it on the market soon so I can let you know if it’s worth it or not!

  3. Weather was nice this past month and it was tough to get anything done. Next month will be easier.

    • Either way, things are just going to get busy this summer. I need to finish this house yesterday! 😉

  4. Just enjoy the ride Derek. Don’t focus too much on the have nots. Enjoy the haves. I am sure there were still some good things to your month.

Thanks for the inclusion this week. Again, I really appreciate the support.

    • Oh for sure. I don’t ever really get down on myself too hard. I just reset my goals for the next month! 🙂
