At some point in time, every business reaches a point where they have two choices. They can either keep their business the same size it is currently, or they can increase production with a larger infrastructure. Let’s take my website for example. About a year ago, I had about 500 subscribers and was making decent money through online advertisements and affiliate income. While that was all well and good, I was absolutely strapped for time.
Every night I was staying up late and each morning I was getting up early. It was pretty rough to say the least. At that point, I needed to decide if I was going to keep pushing forward or if I was just going to take a step back and allow my business to remain the same size for the next few years.
Standing Still….There’s no such thing
Before I get too far with “keeping your business the same size”, I have to tell you that there is absolutely no such thing. In relation to the subscribers on my site, if I stepped back and decided that I was going to just do nothing and keep those 500 subscribers and call it good, I would absolutely be out of my mind! With no new material and no reason for these subscribers to stay, my site would tank faster than the Titanic! You must always choose growth. Sure, it may be slow growth, but always step forward, otherwise you’ll inevitably be going backwards.
Growth Is a Beautiful Thing
Today, my website is nearly 100% larger than what it was a year ago, and I actually work less! How in the world do I do it? You might ask. Well, it’s not by chance that’s for sure. It took careful planning and execution. The real trick is to take yourself out of the picture without losing your audience. Today, I have 4 staff writers, each carefully selected to relate to a certain segment of my audience. With these staff writers, my time is freed up and I have more readers than ever before!
Another way to save time is through various sites that provide online billing services like Billomat. They have a handy dashboard that makes everything easy to view and process.
Have you found a way to save time in your everyday tasks?
My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
