Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up

[wp_campaign_1]

While I didn’t officially set any goals for April, I thought I’d still take the time to share my successes and challenges with this site. Moreover, I’m frankly just so excited to watch my subscriber numbers for LifeAndMyFinances.com! Right now, I have 988 people subscribing to the updates on this site. That means I’m just 12 people away from hitting that 4 digit mark of 1,000 subscribers! That’s just incredible! When I first started this site back in August, 2010, I would have been happy to have 20 subscribers, and now I’m shooting for 1,000. Crazy stuff.

Overall, I’m a pretty busy guy, but I never stop thinking about how I can make this site even better. I absolutely love helping people out with their personal finances, so expect to see some improvements on this site before the year is over.

AUTHOR Derek

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. 1000 subscribers that’s awesome! I’m a far cry away from that number but through hard work one day I’ll get there. Thanks for the mention, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    • I bet you’ll get there someday too Marvin. It just takes time and persistence! And, you’re welcome for the mention.

  2. No goals!? How do you expect to accomplish anything this month? Keep up the good work and I’m sure you’ll hit 1000 soon! Thanks also for all of these recommended articles, I just read most of them, good stuff!

    • Ha, yes, yes, I know…. I had goals, just not for the site. Mainly, my goal this month was to pay all of my ridiculous tax bills by working my butt off on side projects… 😉

  3. I am shocked you set no goals but hey maybe that can be your new goal. To set goals religiously. Let’s go 4.

    • Ha, I know. It’s very rare that I don’t set goals. But, as I said to Tim, my goals were to pay my tax bills this month. That was difficult enough in itself. 😉 But, I’m pretty sure I did it!

  4. Congratulations on your success with the blog. You have a great site here and your readers know it. That’s the way to grow! Cheers mate.

    • Thanks CBB! That means a lot.

  5. Congrats on 1K (you’ll get there soon if you haven’t by the time I write this)!

And thanks for mentioning our bankruptcy article.

    • Thanks Glen! I still love reading your stuff by the way. Keep up the good work! 🙂

  6. Thanks so much for the mention Derek, it’s much appreciated! Congrats on hitting 1,000! That’s awesome and hope to be there someday myself. 🙂

    • No problem John, and thanks for the congrats on 1,000 subscribers (even though I’m not technically there yet). I do plan to get there very soon though. 🙂

  7. 1000 would be great. Right now I’m shooting for that 20 mark you had a few years ago. Congrats on all of your progress.

    • Well congrats on getting started Jennifer! That’s the most important step. Stay in touch. I’d love to hear about your progress, and if you ever need any help feel free to shoot me an email!

    • No problem SB. Keep up the great work you do on your site. I remember when you rocketed to 1,000! Very cool.
