Hello loyal readers! I am in great spirits today because life is good. 🙂 Spring has finally arrived in West Michigan and my golf clubs finally have some dirt on them. I can’t wait to bask in the sun today as well. In addition to the weather, I have some other good news. Yesterday, I officially wrapped up my second semester of Graduate School! Yes, there are still 4 semesters to go, but this semester was pretty intense and I’m quite glad that it’s behind me!
Ok, on to my May goals. Let’s see how I’m doing on these.
I set these goals last week because I intend to improve my site quite largely this month! I’m excited for these changes to happen, and I hope you are too!
1) Bring My Alexa Rank Down to 85,000 – I have made tremendous progress on my Alexa rank over the past few months, taking it from 110k down to 89k, but it seems I’m at a stand-still again…
In order to take my Alexa below 85,000, I need to write some more kick-butt articles and attract some serious visitor numbers soon. I’m already working on a Monday article that will do just that. Hopefully next week you’ll see this Alexa rank below 85k!
** I really would like to get my Alexa Rank below 70k (ultimately)! If you’d like to help me achieve this, please download the Alexa Toolbar! Not only will your visits then count toward my rank, you’ll also be able to see the rank of every site you visit! **
2) Create a Member’s Only Portion of my Site – I have nearly 1,000 subscribers to this site and I have no structured forum for us to talk or discuss our finances with each other! I think this site could really benefit from a private member’s area. We could chat, have a virtual coffee, and make sure that we’re all on the right track! Do you like this idea? I plan to get started on this project in the next few days, so stay tuned for some great things!
3) Continue to Write Every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – As usual, I’m still doing a great job keeping a consistent schedule for my posts. I trust that all you readers appreciate this and I plan to keep it going for a very long time. 🙂
Yes, I have some great stuff on my site, but there are some amazing articles being written every day on other sites all over the world. Here’s a small taste of that.

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
