Don’t Ever Pay That Retail Price

[wp_campaign_1]

Some people absolutely love shopping and others hate it with a passion. That’s just how it is. But, I think that at some point of each one of our lives, we all have an item that we have a desire for. For women, often times this desire is in the form of a new purse or new shoes. For men, it’s often an electronics device like a television or  a huge surround sound system. Whatever the case may be, even if we say that we absolutely hate shopping, we still do it and we still find products that we love and can’t live without.

My weakness lately has been a tablet. I was walking around the office the other day with my bulky Franklin Planner when I hear a cocky voice behind me… “Is that a Franklin Planner Derek?! What age are you living in? Are you 70 years old??” Haha. I have to admit that I often act older than I am, and apparently this Franklin Planner is proof of that. All the guys that are my age are walking around with their iPhones and iPads. They sync together and they are sleek and slender, which makes them easy to carry around. After this slam by my co-worker, I figured it might be time to start thinking about a planner upgrade.

I began my search a couple of weeks ago and discovered that there are tablets that are selling for $60 and there are tablets with a retail of $600. Is there really that big of a difference between these? Why is there such a huge price gap? I definitely feel like there is more to learn in this category, but before I dig too deep, I want to know what type of discounts I can get off from each tablet.

Discounts and Promo Codes

Finding a cheap price on products is getting easier and easier. However, finding the cheapest price seems to be getting more difficult all the time. A product can have a set percent off the retail price, it could also come with a gift card, and it might even have another promo code that would reduce the price even further. This is really the case for all products. Tablets, TVs, jeans, there’s even promo codes out there. If you aren’t finding an online promo code for your item, then you are almost certainly paying too much.

I wouldn’t ever pay the retail price for a technology product. Heck, if I had to, I would buy one off from craigslist to keep the cost down. If you don’t want to buy used though, then you will most likely want to find a product that has been marked down and offers additional savings with a promo code.

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. I always search for promo codes whenever I buy anything online. It takes 30 seconds and can save you a ton of cash! It has likely saved me hundreds of dollars over the years!

    • I do the same. When I can’t find one, I feel like I’m getting cheated somehow though… Almost to the point where I don’t buy the product.
