Top Ways to Make Money Around The Home

[wp_campaign_1]

Although it may not seem so, your own household and the items contained within it are a perfect way to make money. The untrained eye may not see all of the value contained in your house, but we highlight our favorite ways of making money from the things lying around your house which isn’t about increasing your property’s value!

1.    Media

Whether it be parts of your DVD or CD collections, or even your old school cassette or VHS tapes that you have lying around, that you no longer listen to are a great source of money. If you’re not listening to or watching certain DVDs or CDs then posting them on Ebay, Gumtree, Amazon Marketplace or a specialised site such as musicmagpie or decluttr.com sees cash offers come in for stuff no longer used and frees up space around your house.

2.    Toys

If, as I do, you have children then there is always a non-stop conveyor belt of toys and games coming through your front door and, with children being children, toys come and go out of favour. Some of these are left behind and never played with again, so are perfect for harvesting and selling in a yard sale or online as there is always someone that is willing to pay good money to take away these unused toys.

3.    Online Games

While it is both easy and possible to spend money on playing online games such as poker, bingo, casino games and slot machines many online sites these days are offering the ability to win real money without spending a single cent of your own first.  Some bingo portals offer free bingo games, similar to poker sites that offer free poker tournaments, where you can win real cash for no investment of your own. Signing up takes no time at all so fire up the computer, laptop or tablet that you have sitting around your house and you can be on your way to winning cash to help you on your way to financial freedom.

4.    Books

Everyone has a stack of books that they have read once and enjoyed, but not to the extent that they can bring themselves around to reading them a second time. As a result they tend to sit in a corner and accumulate dust and, occasionally, spider webs. Again you can list these in many places online, but if your books are limited copies, first editions or signed by the author you may be able to get a better price from a local bookstore who will be able to sell it on again, simulating the local economy in a small way.

5.    Baking

It may take a bit of time, patience and practice but someone with time on their hands around the house can easily learn the basics of baking in no time and from there the world is your oyster when it comes to creating edible masterpieces like these wedding cakes. Providing samples to friends and the ease of publicizing your work online these days makes it easy to spread the word of your baking work and, with a small portion of luck, within no time you’ll be able to sell your creations to bring in cash with little to no extra money being spent on your weekly shopping bill.

AUTHOR Derek

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
