I am sick to my stomach. I’m angry. I’m ashamed.
Burning flags? Setting fire to effigies? Blasting your vulgarities all over Facebook? How is this helping our country again? How are you solving our nations problems?
Oh, that’s right, I forgot. The government is supposed to solve all your problems. You have absolutely nothing to do with it.
It’s Up to YOU
In the past week, everything’s changed, but at the same time nothing has changed. We still have a President. There are still checks and balances in the judicial system that keep one man/woman from having unlimited power. And probably most importantly, this world will still not somehow be transformed by that supposed sole person in charge.
Are you concerned about your retirement?
Then maybe you should save up some money and invest instead of spending it all cars, restaurants, and vacations. Stop depending on Social Security. That’s just plain stupid.
Are you concerned about your health?
You do realize that your body is still something you own, right? The government may decide to take that from us someday, but for now you’re 100% in control of what goes in your mouth and you own how much exercise your body gets. Ignore your body for a while and you’ll likely get sick. If you chose not to buy medical insurance through the many different options available, then it’s going to be expensive to put yourself back together. Simple as that.
Are you concerned about your safety?
Then I suggest that we do away with the media that fabricates truth for their own success (you all know what I’m talking about), and instead give our money to law enforcement and the military.
Are you concerned about the education of our children?
First of all, nothing in this world is free. We can’t ALL get a free ride to Harvard. It’s just not going to happen.
What you CAN do, however, is work hard and apply for scholarships like our lives depended on it (because, in some ways, they do!). If you want to go to college and have no money, college is STILL POSSIBLE. Don’t believe the lies.
Are you concerned for the hungry?
Then open your wallet and buy them a meal. There are so many fantastic non-profits out there that want to do great things with your money. Just give it up freely instead of depending on your tax money to take care of your wishes for you.
Are you concerned for the homeless?
Then commit to fund a homeless shelter.
You know, this really isn’t that hard, people. If you want to see success in this country again, it’s not just going to magically happen with a simple vote. It’s going to take the open hearts of each and every citizen. If we continue to hate one another and pose threats based on political beliefs, this nation will just continue to slide into the abyss.
Instead of wasting 10 minutes of your time writing hate messages on Facebook (and maybe even worse, spending hours and hours READING them), get up off your couch and do something with the blessings you were given.
If you’re willing to stand up and do something and would like to see others do the same, share this post with all the haters on Facebook.
Then, after you’re done with that, here are some ideas that can get us started on that better world of tomorrow:
My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
