How to Monetize Your Entire Life

How to Monetize Your Entire LifeAt this stage in my career, it’s pretty safe to say that I’ve found a way to monetize my entire life. That is to say, I can make money just by being myself.

This post has been written by Amanda Abella, an amazing writer and speaker in personal finance.

The ability to monetize your entire life is no longer a pipe dream thanks to social media. How many “celebrities” are out there simply because they learned how to monetize their names on social media? The Kardashians make millions and YouTube is full of “celebrities” who make money with content about their lives.

While it personally took me a while, I’ve learned how to make money with content from my life as well. Here are some tips on how to monetize your entire life.

Create a personal brand

The first step in learning how to monetize your entire life is to first learn how to brand yourself. This is the true cornerstone of being able to make money just by being yourself.

I recently went to a conference where they had a panel entitled “Blog to Brand.” The panelists had all started blogging for various reasons and eventually learned how to position themselves as a brand. That’s why you’re not seeing a lot of bloggers rebrand to their own names, because they’ve learned how to make money off of it.

In this case, they are all now seen as experts in their field. So it’s kind of like their content is their resume where they show individuals their experience. Because of this, they get paid to write, speak, consult and more.

Writing/Speaking About Your Experiences

I get paid to write about my life experiences with money. Fortunately, since money is basically tied to everything in life this provides me with a lot of ideas that I can pitch to editors.

My family is now learning how to manage a real estate property, so I get paid to write about it. When I date, I have to figure out the murky waters of love and money, so I can get paid to write about that too. I went six months without a job and started a career as a freelance writer at the height of The Great Recession, and you can get bet I get hired to speak about that.

The point I’m trying to make is this: If you want to monetize your entire life, find a way to get paid to talk about your life experiences.

Recommend products you love.

Another aspect of monetizing your life is to to make a commission for recommending products you love. Now, while it’s not necessary to have a brand under your belt in order for this to be really successful, it does help.

Fortunately, you can simply start by recommending a product to a friend or family when they ask you for it. Most retailers have affiliate programs where you can earn a commission for recommending products, so find the ones for the products you love. Just Google “affiliate program ‘Name of Retailer’” to find some of them.

Okay, so this option doesn’t require you to have a personal brand and it’s actually quite easy. If you want to monetize your entire life, why not monetize your finances? In other words, invest some of the money you work so hard for so it can earn more money for you.

Final Thoughts

The hardest part about being able to monetize your entire life is to build a name for yourself. While it doesn’t happen overnight, you’ll see how the investment is well worth it when you’re making money just from being yourself.

Make Money Money

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Monetizing your life is essential to making money (duh). To me, monetizing my life is about becoming so valuable that people have to pay for my time, whether this be at work in my day job, or in my side hustling.

People will pay for great content. It is important to find those opportunities which will be most profitable!

    • You’ve got it Erik, and it’s great to hear that you know how valuable your time is! Many go through life assuming that if they aren’t at work, their time is worth nothing…
