Goals Update and Weekly Round-Up #33

Would you like to know my goals for this month? Each month, I sit down and evaluate the progress I have made in the previous months. I check out my strengths and weaknesses and then develop some goals that will improve the soft areas of my site!

Sometimes I hit the goals, and sometimes I don’t, but either way I still end up improving my site which benefits both myself and my readers!

Over the past few months I have had goals such as: improving my subscriber numbers, keeping up with my postings (at least 3-4 per week), writing an eBook, improving my Twitter numbers, writing guest posts on other sites, and the list goes on and on.

House Purchase

If you didn’t know, my wife and I purchased our very first house last month (August 2, 2011 to be exact). Since it was a foreclosure, I assumed that we’d spend some time working on it, but I had no idea how much! As of today, we have still not moved into our house! Hopefully, we’ll have everything done by this weekend so that we can move in officially.

Plans After Moving In

When we finally move into our house, my first priority will be to spend some time with my wife!! We have been working so hard at our jobs, side gigs, and the house renovation that it seems like we barely spend time together any more. I’ll be happy once we’re moved in because then things should slow down a bit and I’ll be able to show her my unconditional love again.

Once we’re settled, I should also have some time to take the online business world by storm! I have owned the domain, for months now, but have not had the time to set it up. My idea is to write some very detailed articles about developing passive income and set it up as a niche site for some additional income. If this goes well, then I plan to develop another site, and then another, and then another….each with very little maintenance needed, but the income will keep coming in.

In addition to the new websites, many of you know that I’ve been writing a new eBook that should be useful for anyone that wishes to come out of college with no debt whatsoever. It’s going to be powerful, and I can’t wait to finish it and release it!

There are plenty of plans for the future as well, but we’ll take care of these more immediate goals first. 😉

Goals For September, 2011

Since we have so much going on, this month is going to be tough, but here’s what I think I can handle:

  • Continue posting 3-4 posts per week – this will be original content and will be beneficial to my readers. If you would like to hear about a particular topic, let me know! I love to hear from you!
  • Sit down and work on my eBook at least once a week– I would make this a little more aggresive, but I think we are still going to be super busy with the house.
  • Grow my subscriber numbers to 350– I currently have a promotion going right now to win an iPad 2 as well as many other great prizes. I figure this should bring up my subscriber base to at least 300, but why not just push for 350? Fingers crossed! 🙂

Weekly Round-Up

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Wow! Looks like I already hit 315 subscribers. I guess maybe I should set the bar a little higher than 350 for this month! Maybe 500?! That would be crazy! 🙂

  2. Looks great Derek! You’re truly an inspiration! You will hit that subscriber number in no time. It seems that a lot of other people have the same idea with developing other websites. I think this is a great idea and now you already have the experience. I trust that the IPAD giveaway will turn out to be a huge success. I have my fingers crossed that I win it. 🙂

    • I’m glad that I can inspire you with your blog as well! It seems like just yesterday that I started writing articles and no one was reading them!!! You’ll be writing for the masses soon. Can’t wait! Keep me posted on your success!

  3. You know Ill be your first subscriber on that site:) Sometimes you need a crazy goal from keeping inside the box. I bet you can get to 500. Just think of one more action to take.

    • I like the positive response Brenda! Thanks! I’ll just have to think of that certain something… 🙂

    • Thanks FSYA! This promotion is turning into something WAY bigger than I thought it was gonig to be. Looks like I’ll fly by 350. Next stop, 500? I hope so.

  4. Congratulations on your 1st anniversary! it’s definitely an exciting time for you with so many things lined up… can’t wait to see that new website live though.. am certain it will be awesome ;p

    • Thanks for the kind words! I can’t wait to get my new site up as well!
