Would you like to know my goals for this month? Each month, I sit down and evaluate the progress I have made in the previous months. I check out my strengths and weaknesses and then develop some goals that will improve the soft areas of my site!
Sometimes I hit the goals, and sometimes I don’t, but either way I still end up improving my site which benefits both myself and my readers!
Over the past few months I have had goals such as: improving my subscriber numbers, keeping up with my postings (at least 3-4 per week), writing an eBook, improving my Twitter numbers, writing guest posts on other sites, and the list goes on and on.
If you didn’t know, my wife and I purchased our very first house last month (August 2, 2011 to be exact). Since it was a foreclosure, I assumed that we’d spend some time working on it, but I had no idea how much! As of today, we have still not moved into our house! Hopefully, we’ll have everything done by this weekend so that we can move in officially.
Plans After Moving In
When we finally move into our house, my first priority will be to spend some time with my wife!! We have been working so hard at our jobs, side gigs, and the house renovation that it seems like we barely spend time together any more. I’ll be happy once we’re moved in because then things should slow down a bit and I’ll be able to show her my unconditional love again.
Once we’re settled, I should also have some time to take the online business world by storm! I have owned the domain, http://creatingapassiveincome.com for months now, but have not had the time to set it up. My idea is to write some very detailed articles about developing passive income and set it up as a niche site for some additional income. If this goes well, then I plan to develop another site, and then another, and then another….each with very little maintenance needed, but the income will keep coming in.
In addition to the new websites, many of you know that I’ve been writing a new eBook that should be useful for anyone that wishes to come out of college with no debt whatsoever. It’s going to be powerful, and I can’t wait to finish it and release it!
There are plenty of plans for the future as well, but we’ll take care of these more immediate goals first. 😉
Goals For September, 2011
Since we have so much going on, this month is going to be tough, but here’s what I think I can handle:
- Continue posting 3-4 posts per week – this will be original content and will be beneficial to my readers. If you would like to hear about a particular topic, let me know! I love to hear from you!
- Sit down and work on my eBook at least once a week– I would make this a little more aggresive, but I think we are still going to be super busy with the house.
- Grow my subscriber numbers to 350– I currently have a promotion going right now to win an iPad 2 as well as many other great prizes. I figure this should bring up my subscriber base to at least 300, but why not just push for 350? Fingers crossed! 🙂
Due to my incredibly busy week, I only read a handful of other financial blogs, but here at the best ones! Enjoy!

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.
