Need a New Car? Get the Best of British on a Budget

New cars are normally incredibly expensive. Every year as MOT time arrives, we dread taking the car to the garage, fearful that we will have to spend thousands on repairs. If you do need a new car, however, there’s really no need to worry, and the market is flooded with great, cheap, British built cars. Most British firms may now be owned by foreign companies, but they’re still built right here in Blighty. Here are the very best options available on a budget that suits you.

Toyota Auris

Built: Burnaston, Derbyshire

One of the most reliable cars in the world, the Toyota Auris celebrates the best of British engineering and craftsmanship. What’s more, if you’re worried about MOT woes, surveys show that Toyota are the world’s second most reliable manufacturer to buy from, so you can sleep easy.

Well designed, spacious and large enough to fit the whole family, the Auris also benefits from being reasonably priced as well as coming with a 5 year warranty, providing you with the ultimate peace of mind.

The Mini

Built: Oxford, Oxfordshire

No matter whether you’re a fan of the Italian Job Minis or the more recent offerings, you simply cannot go far wrong with a Mini. Effortlessly styled and steeped in British tradition, the Mini will always have a place in our hearts.

For many, the Mini is the ultimate small car and they’re a great vehicle to drive; especially if you live on tight, narrow city streets. What’s more, if you’re after a return on your investment, then the Mini is the car for you, with surveys showing that, on average, a Mini will still hold 64% of its value after three years.

Land Rover Range Rover

Built: Solihull, Birmingham

Finally, if you’re not after a small city car and you want something that’s large enough to fit your entire family in, then a Land Rover is for you. Obviously, this is the most expensive car in the list (as you’d expect with the sheer size of it), but there are still plenty of cheap second hand models available.

Perfect for on the road on those long journeys or crawling through the mud on an outdoor weekend adventure, there’s no better all-round car than a Land Rover. Plus, if luxury is more your thing, then the Land Rover provides it in spades.

So, there we have it, three great British cars that will make your perfect next car. Next time you change, make sure you get the best of British on a budget that suits you.

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. I would love to go for Range Rover as it is very comfortable and stylish. It is a best companion for long road and adventure tips.

    • Range Rovers are a great vehicle to have, but you really have to use it to get your money’s worth.

  2. Those autos are great I’m sure, but you forgot my favorite, the Jaguar. It’s not only comfortable but classy as well.
