Invest $100, Get $50 with Wealthsimple!!

I’m really starting to love Wealthsimple, so I have absolutely no shame promoting them again…and again…and again (I have personally invested money with them, and it’s on course to earn more than 12% this year!!). And, since their $50 offer only lasts a few more days, I thought I’d send out one more heads-up to all you readers that were interested in signing up for the last promotion, but didn’t make your investment in time (life happens, I get it – but don’t make the same mistake again!).

Be sure to check it out! I mean come on,  you’ll be:

3) Verify your email and fund your account

At this point, Wealthsimple will send you an email to verify your account. Simply head to your inbox, click the “verify” button, and then head back to the Wealthsimple site to continue your sign-up.

You’ll agree to the W9 terms (this is a common form that everyone has to sign if they want to invest), and then select “Fund your Personal” (or Roth IRA, or whatever you chose in the prior step).

Once you do that, they’ll submit a couple transactions to your bank that you later verify to make sure everything is legit (they’re a very secure site). Then you simply transfer your money over to invest! That’s it!

Investing Money

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  1. Awesome. Can’t wait to try this thanks. 🙂

    • Be sure not to miss the deadline this time! 😉 Let me know if you need any help!

      • Well, I made my first deposit. I hope its right. 🙂

        • Great! Just in time! 🙂

          • Hi Derek,
Just wondering if you have been having issues with the site or if the first deposit just takes time. It’s still not showing up that the money has been deposited but the site is noting that the transfer is in the works.
Hopefully I will also receive the credit in time as well. Thanks.

          • Hi Nicole. Did you verify the two small deposits to your bank account? Once you do that and make your deposit, you should be good to go! And, yes, you’ll still get your $50. I just got the promotion extended indefinitely. BOOM!! 🙂

  2. Thanks for the link!
Any info about how long it takes for them to deposit the $50 bonus?
Also, I like to have some control over how my funds are invested, but I can’t seem to figure out how to adjust the “fantastic investment package” they have chosen for me.

    • Hi Jennifer. Sure, it takes them just 30 days to deposit the $50 into your account (typically the end of the month). With Wealthsimple, they make things super easy and provide 3 simple options. Basically there’s a safe option, and mid-range option, and a more aggressive investment option. For me, I invest in the aggressive option. It’s still pretty safe and it’s providing me with the best returns.

Hope this helps! Congrats on signing up and investing. Your future self is going to love you!

  3. Hi Derek, Loving your blog! I am new to it but I have loved every part of it!
I opened my Wealthsimple account today (Nov 30th) and transferred $100. The site says my deposit won’t actually go through until tomorrow. Does this mean I wouldn’t get the $50?

    • Awesome, Monica! I’m trying to negotiate for a longer promotion period. Even if they say no though, I still imagine they’ll still give you your $50. But, keep in mind they make payments at the end of the month, so you might have to wait until December.

  4. Congrats for getting the promotion extended. Whoo hoo!

And the problem was me Lol! I had my accounts frozen. Whoops! Thanks for replying Derek.

    • Ha, oops! Once you get that squared away and get your accounts funded, they’ll get you your $50 by the end of the month. 🙂

      • Hi Derek,
I got my $50 bucks. Yay!

        • Great!
