Back in March, I earned $3,600 with my blog. It was incredibly surreal and I didn’t know if it was sustainable. As it turns out…it wasn’t. I’m now coming back down to reality, but you know what? Now I have a clearer vision of what it will take for this blog to earn some serious bucks in the future.

June 2018 Blog Income Report – Coming Back Down to Reality…For Now

In June, I was mainly focused on finishing off the project house…and not so much on this blog. As it turns out, the focus worked since we sold it for a $27,400 profit. Buuuttt, the income on this blog took a bit of a dive – for two reasons:

  1. I didn’t post a ton of fantastic content (I posted good content…but not fantastic content), so my visitor numbers went down slightly
  2. I stopped writing for outside blogs (which were paying me $350-$450 per article). Basically, it was their choice not to keep me, but the income was fun while it lasted!

So naturally, with fewer visitors and less income from my writing gig, the income went down…

Income Summary

So here’s the incredibly quick summary of how much I earned in June and how I earned it. It was pretty straight-forward:

June 2018 blog income report

Ta-da! That’s it.

Want to earn the same amount of money? Do everything possible to get over 25,000 visitors to your site a month…then you’ll notice a substantial uptick in your income. How do you do this? I should probably come up with a post about this, huh? If you’d like me to write it, comment with “YES PLEASE” in the comment section. If I get just 5 comments, I’ll write an in-depth report for all of you. Challenge accepted?? I guess we’ll see!

If you’re interested in starting a blog – check out my detailed instructions here. The cost of the site is only $24 for the first year and the instructions are free! There’s really not much reason not to do it. Oh, and if you have any issues, just email me at derek [at] lifeandmyfinances  {dot} com. I’m always happy to help!!

Coming Up With Big Plans for This Blog

That’s basically it for now. Sorry for the condensed post, but right now I need to get back into the office and brainstorm! It’s time to come up with a plan that will give me more exposure, more readers, and a much higher income. I know I have the stuff to do it. It’s just a matter of taking the time to strategically get myself there. I love you all. Can’t wait to do even more with this blog!!

Income Reports Money

Derek

AUTHOR Derek

My name is Derek, and I have my Bachelors Degree in Finance from Grand Valley State University. After graduation, I was not able to find a job that fully utilized my degree, but I still had a passion for Finance! So, I decided to focus my passion in the stock market. I studied Cash Flows, Balance Sheets, and Income Statements, put some money into the market and saw a good return on my investment. As satisfying as this was, I still felt that something was missing. I have a passion for Finance, but I also have a passion for people. If you have a willingness to learn, I will continue to teach.

  7. Yes Please! And by the way, the money you made this month is more than I have ever made on my blog, mostly because I only recently started to monetize it, but I am definitely interested in reading your blog post about how to get more than 25,000 visitors to my site in a month!

    • Great! Article coming soon!

  8. I just read in one of your posts that you started your blog back in 2010. Did it take you six years before you saw any income, and if so, is that typical for people who start blogs?

    • Hey Paul – no, it took me about 6 months to start earning real money (like, hundreds of dollars a month). I think it’s a little tougher now, but there are still success stories out there where people are earning thousands of dollars a year after only 12-18 months.

As for the average…I’d say the average person earns a few bucks here and there – nothing more. But you know what? The average person never really applies themselves and gives up early. If you’re dedicated and are going to give it a real shot over a decent period of time (like, a solid 9-12 months for sure), I believe you can be VERY successful with a blog.
