Pre Wedding Prep – Top Tips and Tricks

pre wedding prepWith summer comes the wedding season and many couples around the world are eager to celebrate their impending marriage. If you are engaged, dating or close to your wedding date, there are a few things you should consider before saying “I do.” Below are a few Pre-Wedding prep tips and tricks that should help.

1) The Registry

If you already have all the home appliances you need, planning for your honeymoon may also be one of the most important parts of your wedding planning – and part of the “registry”. A honeymoon fund can provide the necessary funds so that you can have fun on vacation.  Either way, it is important that you find a place to register so that guests can give you the items that you need most.

For couples starting out life together with no home appliances, your wedding registry might be one of the most important parts of your wedding planning. There are many places you can set up a wedding registry. Your best bet is to find a single place to register for all of your needs.

Look for a site provider that offers you whatever you need, whether that is:

  • appliances,
  • gift cards,
  • homewares, or
  • honeymoon funds

This makes it easier for guests and helps to eliminate the likelihood of your receiving multiples of the same gift. Not only that, but it makes returns extremely easy so you do not have to run around town, going from store to store, to returning items.

Online registries also make it easier for guests to purchase items. With busy schedules, some guests find great relief knowing that they can order something without ever leaving their home.

2) The Wedding Dress

Finding the perfect wedding dress is something that all engaged women dream of. However, the price tag for a beautiful wedding dress and the fear of falling in love with something outside of your budget are daunting. However, there are many ways to save money while getting a wonderful dress.

The consignment shop dress

Consider going to a consignment shop where brides sell their used wedding dresses. Many times this dress will have only been worn once and is in great condition.

The dress that actually fits

If buying a used dress is not something you are interested in, another way you can save money is by finding a dress that only needs minimum alterations. Many brides make the mistake of buying a wedding dress that is multiple sizes too small, long, or large. Alteration fees on these dresses can be extensive. In some cases, it is even more expensive than the dress itself.

So, it is important to only look at dresses that are available in your size. Do not search for dresses in other sizes to avoid falling in love with a dress that will require extensive alterations.

3) The Invitations

Everyone has unique opinions regarding the different styles of wedding invitations.

  • Some people think that it’s important for the invitations to be elegant.
  • Others love invitations with a more bohemian feel.
  • There are even couples who would be fine with sending a simple text message to their guests and letting that serve as an invitation.

Regardless, it is important for you to make sure your wedding invitations fit the theme for your wedding.

When to send the invitations

The most important thing for you to do regarding your wedding invitations is to make sure that they are sent out with enough time for people to respond. On the other hand, you do not want to send wedding invitations too early because then people:

  • may forget
  • might want to say that they can attend but they aren’t able to commit to a scheduled event that far in advance.

If you send your invitations too late, people:

  • may not be able to request time off from work
  • might not find a babysitter in time

Plan to send your invitations out between six and eight weeks before your wedding. If you would like to let people know in advance that you are getting married, consider sending “save the dates” to your guests. “Save the dates” can be sent up to six months in advance and require minimum information about the wedding.
